Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Ridley.
Hi Bri, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hi! My name is Bri, and I am 29 years old. I currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada, and have been a photographer for 4 years. My photography journey started when I volunteered to take my younger brother’s homecoming photos for him and his friends. I had no idea at the time that my iPhone 7 and a little zeal would spark an interest and reveal a gift in me that I didn’t know existed. The photos from that day began circulating through the group of friends and their families, and the positive response was overwhelming! My family began encouraging me to look into photography, and my mom blessed me with my first camera a few months later. I was in love!
Time went on, and I began perfecting the gift that God gave me by watching YouTube videos for hours and asking as many questions as I could! I struggled with feeling inadequate in the photography space compared to my peers. But to compare yourselves with others is detrimental. The pandemic hit, and my hobby quickly turned into a full-time job. The world was in a panic and scrambling to create and cultivate as many memories as possible. I became a vessel for people and their families to freeze time for a moment and make it last forever. Building relationships and making others feel good about themselves made me cherish each experience.
Over time I transitioned from family portraits to Lifestyle Branding and Editorial Fashion. I enjoy taking a vision and bringing it to life through colors, lighting, and emotion. Each image that I take tells a unique story. I decided to specialize in business branding because I am a photographer and also build websites and create video content that embodies and enhances a business’ social presence! I cannot explain how excited I get when I receive a new project! As a photographer, I aim to prove to my clients that their beauty radiates from within. No drastic measures must be taken outside of you to represent success. I run my business with integrity, professionalism, quality, and smiles! I don’t think you can get a better combination than that! The Lord blessed me with a gift to make people feel comfortable and capture it on camera. I make a decision every day to give Him the glory with it!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur has its moments of trial. The most important part is to learn from those experiences. You will always have a story to tell dealing with customer service. Although you do your best to please everyone, it’s impossible.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a lifestyle branding & editorial photographer. Everyone knows me for my photo style, which is bright colors, unique composition, and modest fashion. In today’s society, people have adopted the mentality that because less clothing receives more attention, that should be displayed at all times. I decided to challenge that idea through my business and my art. Being told that “sex sells” motivates me to prove that it may sell, but it isn’t the only thing that does! I use creativity, colors, composition, environment, and emotion to tell a story. I have created some amazing pieces, and sex is nowhere in them. That is what I am most proud of and is what separates me from the rest. I am confident in who I am as a woman. And it has nothing to do with my body but with who I am on the inside. It took me years to realize that. I have made it my mission to help every woman realize that, even if it’s for just the moment they are in front of my lens. It’s worth it to me!
