Meet Jamie Goode JME Studios of Tyler, Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Goode JME Studios.

Hi Jamie Goode, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My story starts back when I was a little girl. My mother gave me my first camera. One of those stories, I guess you could say, but that’s how I got into what I do today: beauty, glamour, and women empowerment. It came from watching my mother and grandmother growing up doing their makeup and hair and putting on their pearls; that inspired me to see that women were beautiful no matter their age. My upscale photography studio provides a professional luxury portrait experience. This experience is always exciting, pampering, adventurous, custom tailored, and focused on you! I would love to photograph a wide variety of women. Where we create stunning images of women of different shapes and sizes, with different tastes, backgrounds, and views on life. I would love to take the everyday woman and give her an unforgettable celebrity-style magazine photoshoot experience. How would you want to be remembered? What does your legacy look like? I honestly believe every woman deserves to have a beautiful portrait of herself. It’s about so much more than just “taking pretty pictures.” I hope you truly see yourself and your beauty the way others already see you.

Excuses:
“I DON’T FEEL PHOTOGENIC.”
“I’VE NEVER FELT PRETTY ENOUGH.”
“I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT FIRST.”

Trust me, I know; I had to learn to value myself too. I had the same excuses. I’m here to tell you that you are enough! You are fearfully & wonderfully made! Embrace your uniqueness! I want to empower you! I want you to be just as God has created you to be.

“I want to show you the best version of yourself!” – Jamie Goode

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Photography is so much more than just having a camera and taking pictures. You must have an eye, a passion, and a love for what is being created. It’s a hard business and a major learning experience. I had to learn the hard way; I am 100% self-taught. I learned my camera inside and out, what f-stop was, ISO, and so much more, including the editing, which is another separate lesson. Anyone can take a picture, but can you retouch that image to look brilliant? I try to give advice when a new “photographer” reaches out to me with questions. I tell them to please educate themselves with their camera, editing programs, and the business behind the lens, because it is a lot of work and doesn’t happen overnight. Know what you’re doing before you start charging. I wish I had someone tell me that when I started 25+ years ago.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I hope that my work speaks for itself. After spending years shooting everything you could think of, I finally found my niche in the photography world, and now I’m in my happy place. I photographed weddings for 15 years, and while it was interesting and helped pay the bills, it wasn’t something I truly enjoyed. They are exhausting, stressful, and not always fun. I want to shoot and have fun, be creative and produce work I am proud of, which is what I do today!

I specialize in glamour portraits for the 21st century, not that 80’s old school feather boa style, haha. I also love to shoot maternity, modeling, and bridal and non-bridal boudoir. I also shoot a lot of fashion and commercial work for brands, as well as headshots for some of the top real estate companies, banks, and entrepreneurs in Texas. I’m known for giving more than expected. I will shoot longer than expected to ensure we have the shots needed, and I will edit late into the night for days and weeks to ensure that each image is to my highest standard. I’m also known for shooting barefoot while wearing one of my favorite rock n roll t-shirts with jeans.

I’m proud of the work I have created, but I am just as proud of the friendships I have made over the years through my amazing clients, especially my returning clients who love to create with me. I hear from so many people when they see my work: “I love your style!” So I hope that my style sets me apart from others. I let my work speak for itself.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I love my community and all the amazing small business owners. We all network and do things together that help us with our businesses and give back to our community. I collaborate with many local businesses, I’ve worked with many in the past, and I have several things I am working on currently. Just coming to the studio and chatting with me about connecting, sharing my work with others, following my social media, and maybe even booking their own portrait experience is a great way to support me and my passion!
