Daily Inspiration: Meet Sajan Nauriyal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sajan Nauriyal.

Hi Sajan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I grew up in Seattle, Washington. Seattle isn’t a huge place for music, but it has an interesting musical history. Around middle school, I got involved in playing music at the church I was attending, and I realized quickly that I got a lot of joy from playing and writing songs. I started making songs on GarageBand for fun around that time and eventually got an internship at a studio during college that helped get me started producing and mixing music. I started making songs for myself and others and met many other people doing that too. Fast forward a few years, I moved to Nashville to pursue songwriting and production!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
My dad gave me some advice saying that if you want to do something great, you will have difficulties. The key is to stay consistent through those things and not throw in the towel when stuff doesn’t pan out. Upon starting my career, I had a pretty intense struggle with anxiety, and my health tanked badly. I developed severe allergies to a lot of food and was barely eating. On top of that, I was trying to build a music production business to pay bills but didn’t know if I could mentally function enough to get through a conversation without a panic attack. I almost gave up music in that season. I no longer have those allergies or anxiety, and as a Christian, I’m so thankful the Lord walked with me through that season so I could come out on the other side.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m passionate about all forms of music, from EDM to HipHop to Pop to Jazz to Classical, and I like to try to explore unique sounds in my music. I’ve always loved songwriting and production, but I think I’m more known for my artistic project. I think one of my favorite things is creating a feeling in a song that can uplift people or bring them back to an experience. I love it when songs do that for me, so I try to recreate that in my music.

Any big plans?
I’m making an album that will be released over that this year, and it’s some of my favorite music I’ve ever made. It will be exciting for people to hear; I’m hoping it will be as meaningful to others as it has been for me. Additionally, I’m intrigued about exploring the songwriting and production side of music even more.
