Conversations with Derek Seabolt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Seabolt.

Hi Derek, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Distinguished Transport is a specialty transportation company that moves, picks up, and delivers antiques, fine furnishings, and “one of a kind” curiosities all over the country. We also work with interior designers to install goods for their client’s projects and visions. We work with antique shows and dealers throughout the country necessitating their move-in and out needs, as well as exposition logistics and management for these events.

Distinguished Transport started in 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia, realizing a large need and demand for the transportation and careful handling of antiques and delivery for the end user. From there we were able to expand and open our first warehouse and we continued to develop relationships within the antique community and with individual designers. 2009 was a big leap for diversifying and growth as we expanded in the antique event market with the Round Top Antique Fair in Texas.

Through our recognition of expertise in handling antiques and “one of a kind,” we were able to grow our facility in Atlanta and expand to a second facility in the heart of Round Top securing our position as a nationwide service. It was at this moment we became the preferred service within the industry for some of the largest antique shows; Round Top and Marburger Farm(the premier event at Round Top), the Antique and Design center in High Point, NC, the newly minted event at the Americas’ Mart in downtown Atlanta, and now presently the trusted shipping partner for the Antique and Garden show in Nashville.

Currently, Distinguished Transport has two permanent locations in Round Top, TX, and Atlanta, GA. We receive orders between shows via email, phone, or our website. Distinguished Transport is also working to develop a state-of-the-art computer system that will allow orders to be transmitted digitally and from where ever you are and will allow tracking of the movement of inventory from the pickup to the delivery location; an unprecedented move for the antique industry.

In the upcoming years, Distinguished Transport plans on opening a bigger warehouse in Atlanta and other cities around the country to create faster delivery times for all of its customers.

We are everywhere you want to be.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Logistics is never an easy road. It is all about managing expectations with attainable solutions to reach the optimal result.

We have always been about problem-solving, and coming off of our story we are always looking at different options in order to scale our product in order to provide the best possible outcome for the end user; the customer, the dealer, the designer, and everything in between.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Obviously, antiques are our game. Safe transport and delivery is our business. Setting us apart from the competition is our passion for finishing whatever the move project may be the moment we are asked to do so.

Since no antique is the same each pickup, transport, and delivery is a customized process from beginning to end.

We are most proud of our team who continues to carry this reputation of excellence onward into the next move.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Seek out and surround yourself with people and businesses from all walks of life in order to learn and grow one’s own self. Often when looking at problem-solving within the company our best ideas have come from observing how other businesses work through solutions.

For Distinguished Transport it is all about building lasting relationships through integrity, attention to detail, and service excellence.
