Rising Stars: Meet Hudson Aka $idd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hudson Aka $idd.

Hi Hudson, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always have been inclined toward music; my parents came to Nashville, so my father could pursue his music career. My sisters had me listening to carter 3 and 50 cents at a young age, and I loved it. My favorite songs as a little kid were “Riding Spinners” by Three 6 mafia and “Ridin'” by Chamillionaire. That was my introduction and love at first listening to rap at a young age. I ultimately was influenced by Lil Yachty’s album Lil Boat to want to record music myself with how different it was and how much I liked it. I wanted to make something that I liked as much as that album. The first beat I paid for, recorded on, and released was produced by EarlThePearll.

I was recording at a studio made for country music at the time. I eventually got asked to leave the private school. I was and found the most talented group of friends that work as a business team. Like we’re all a piece to a complete puzzle, including my current Engineer and my first choice as a producer, Parker G. We built a sound over the last 5 years, Parker perfecting my vocal effects and me creating my style and identifiable sound. My latest EP, “Pushin 120,” released this past spring, is available only on my SoundCloud “$idd.” The rest of my music is on all platforms under the same name as my Soundcloud. My mother passed away when I was 9, and that’s who I do it for. I want to make her proud more than anything. I tell a little more about how this affected me and my story on my soon-to-release album “Going Crazy,” which will be released on all platforms.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up with a single Father and 3 other sisters was a bumpy road at times in and of itself, but I praise my father to this day for his hard work and dedication to taking care of us. Things could have gone completely different if he wasn’t the great father he is. He would work 2 extra jobs on top of his 2 existing jobs at the time if it meant we would get a private education and a roof over our heads. And food to eat. Many tough times don’t include what I’ve mentioned, but I won’t get into that. Eventually, he was comfortable when all the siblings had graduated except for me, and I got moved to public school. But that’s not good enough for me. He deserves the world, and I deserve to give it to him.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have a few recognizable melodies that I’ve created to add my work apart from others and to have an identifiable sound people can recognize. I also enjoy inducing multiple emotions in a single song because often we find ourselves in a cycle of “highs and lows” even on the same day, and a big factor of the emotions that come to me is recognized through music; my goal is to recreate that. This is also something you’ll find the most on my upcoming album, “Going Crazy.”
