Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocco Cozza.

Hi Rocco, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my legal career in a large law firm in the Pittsburgh area. I then took a position running the legal department of an international Information Technology company and stayed in that role for 14 years. While in that position, I began to have the itch to start my firm to help entrepreneurs, business owners, entertainers, and athletes. So, in 2018 I resigned from my position as General Counsel and took time to figure things out as a sole practitioner lawyer. In July 2019, I incorporated my firm, the Cozza Law Group, when it was just myself and my part-time assistant in a 200-square-foot office. Today, we have 7 employees, just moved to a 4,500-square-foot office in the Pittsburgh area, have a satellite office in NYC, and are looking to open our next office in Nashville by the end of 2022. Our firm is licensed in PA, NY, WV, FL, and TN.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
The road is never smooth. When I left my corporate position, I was making great money, got to travel the world, and had a pretty secure position. When I decided to leave, I knew it was all on me. I had to find clients, generate revenue, do the work, and run the firm. Being an entrepreneur is a lonely game, and there were many sleepless nights. I questioned my decisions daily, but I knew we were building a different type of law firm, and I had to keep going. I focused on marketing and branding and carved out a niche for ourselves. Was it easy? No. But in the end, we were awarded the Law Firm 500 second fastest growing law firm in the county in 2021, and I couldn’t be prouder of my team for this accomplishment.

Any big plans?
We are constantly expanding our growth plans and looking to capitalize in markets where we see an opportunity. We are expanding our firm into the Nashville area by the end of 2022 and Florida in 2023. We are redefining legal services and striving to change the industry for the better.
