Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Stafford.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
I began my journey in the photo-video world about 6 years ago. It started as a part-time thing helping film weddings on weekends when I had spare time and eventually ended up becomings my life’s passion. I spend a little over 4 years in Florida developing my photo/video business primarily focusing on weddings and traveling to Nashville for music videos and live events when the opportunity came.
It didn’t take long for me to realize that working with brands and artists is where I wanted to put my focus and attention. I moved to Nashville a little over a year ago with hopes of fully focusing on music-related video content. I am so grateful to have connected with artists with that I truly love working and collaborating.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think anyone that starts their own business from the ground up is going to run into challenges along the way. In my personal situation, I found it really challenging to get people to trust and pay you without having much of a portfolio even if you know you are capable of delivering a great product.
I think there have been and always will be speed bumps, but I find that when I overcome those things those are some of the most satisfying things that have happened on my journey in film and photo.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I primarily focus on all things photo & video. I love anything in the visual creative world. I have spent most of 2022 on tour with a couple of artists and I feel confident that live show photography and videography is what I am building a name for myself. I’ve found that something that sets me apart from others is the speed of my delivery time.
We live in a world now where content is so fleeting with social media and people want to post their latest update and move on to the next thing (especially on tour). I have found that I can deliver high-quality content in a very quick time to keep the artist up to date on all of their socials.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I have so many different thoughts and ideas about where the film industry may be going in the next 5-10 years whether it be 360 videos, 3D rendering, or VFX…
I truly don’t know what I will end up doing and where I will be but I love adapting and learning new things. I will always have this part of me that is a purist and loves traditional big screen film so I do think that keeping my roots there will always be important to me.
