Rising Stars: Meet Greg Bussie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Bussie.

Hi Greg, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Greg Bussie from Huntsville, AL you can say I grew up a little bit of everywhere due to my parents being in the military but New York is my home away from here. I have been obsessed with Hip-Hop since I was 4 years old my mother actually taught me how to spell my name through a rap.

I have been taking music seriously for going on 7 years now and it comes with a lot of ups and downs, wins and losses but I’m in too deep at this point to turn back now. I’ve grown so much not only as a musician but as a man and when I had nothing I had music.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, from being homeless at a point in time to selling some of my equipment to make sure I had money in my pocket and something to eat. It’s been the furthest thing from smooth but I wouldn’t trade it for the world these struggles really shaped me to be who I am today and have the biggest influence on my music.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well I’m a rapper and what I believe stands out within my sound is the way my voice carries on a track, it’s distinctly me like when you hear a Greg Bussie song you’ll know right away as well as my versatility and ability to blend genres.

What I’m most proud of at this moment is my two beautiful baby boys at home and my latest album “The Art Gallery.” I was really nervous about sharing a new body of work after two years of not releasing ANYTHING but the amount of love and support I’ve received from this album has been mind-blowing and unmatched!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.
