Today we’d like to introduce you to Harley Stewart.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a young girl, I dreamed of owning my own business. Never did I think that dream would become a reality! I’ve always lived an active lifestyle, and I love to teach people. I thought what better way than to bring health and nutrition to a simplified level? I show people how to fuel their bodies, but with a lifestyle perspective.
There is no need to spend hours in the kitchen meal prepping or believing that a candy bar will reset all their progress. Being able to bring a healthy option to Smyrna has been a dream come true! I have made so many meaningful relationships in the last 18 months!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business is never easy. Starting a business toward the end of a pandemic is a lot more difficult. However, I was up for the challenge! Not only was the world trying to come back from a crazy year and a half, but I was also a full-time college student. When the idea for The Social came about I had 1 year left of college. I told myself I would do whatever it took to make it work! I didn’t want to put this idea off any longer, and graduation was just around the corner!
I finally graduated in May of 2022, a little over a year after opening The Social Nutrition. I now have 2 Associate’s Degrees and 1 Bachelor’s degree. The Social hit its one-and-a-half-year anniversary just 3 months after in August. I couldn’t imagine life any other way. Not only have I met some incredible people. but the small business community in Smyrna is truly like no other!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Social Nutrition offers more than healthy protein shakes, energy teas, and coffees. Social is an outlet for people who need to come by and get work done, or come by and talk about their day. Social is about relationships. When thinking of a name for my business I wanted it to be more than just a “healthy” name. I wanted it to align with what I wanted to do with the business.
I wanted to create new relationships, be an outlet for people, and be able to show how easy health and nutrition can really be. I have accomplished all of those things and don’t plan on stopping! The amount of “regulars” The Social has each day is truly a blessing.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Prior to owning a business, I worked in the dental field for 6 years! Dental will always have a special place in my heart. I still like to participate in Free Dental Days where I volunteer with an organization to provide free dental care.
