Community Highlights: Meet Deanna Loveland of S&S Garage Doors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Loveland.

Hi Deanna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started playing the piano when I was 4 and the harp when I was 11. Songwriting and singing followed shortly after and by the time I was 18 I was doing 130 performances each year.

Moved to Nashville to pursue music in 2008 and ended up getting married and starting a family of my own a few years later! I continued performing music but it took a backseat and my husband and I started our garage door company, S&S Garage Doors, LLC. in 2019.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Oh, there have definitely been struggles, side hustles, and what some might call “fails” but I don’t see them as failures. More like learning experiences that got us to where we are today!

My big hurdle as a musician when I first moved to Nashville was keeping enough paying gigs coming in to sustain me. It was much easier to book shows outside of Nashville and keep the bills paid. Once I got here, I discovered that so many musicians were playing for free or even paying venues to play! That was a shock to me and definitely a challenge to navigate.

With the garage door company, our biggest challenge was taking the leap of faith and doing it! Once you have kids it’s tough to go out on a limb and try something new. There’s kind of this security blanket there when you’re working for someone else (albeit a false sense of security, it’s still there).

The biggest hurdle was letting that security go completely and believing that God would provide like He always does and our company would prosper. We worked hard and here we are 3 years later, still going strong!

As you know, we’re big fans of S&S Garage Doors, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We do garage door installation and repair on residential and some commercial garage doors. My husband and his team do all the installations/repairs and I focus more on building relationships in the community and referral networking.

What sets us apart from other garage door companies is that we care about the customer experience. It’s not just another call for us, we value our reputation and connections with people more than making a sale or closing a job.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
