Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Hale. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Canadian singer-songwriter-musician & producer Melissa Hale is finally finding her way through the scruffy city of Knoxville, TN. Why finally? After years of diving into all things music, her mind got the best of her. And the music was put on the shelf in her late teens. After a much-needed time of healing, finding her worth, and discovering that nothing else struck as deep, she came full circle back into the world of music that she couldn’t run too far from. Melissa’s debut EP was a big comeback into the world of music, and it was a fully crowdfunded effort from friends, family, and supporters. Matthew Hale, the husband of Melissa Hale, co-produced her debut EP, ‘Ready to be Found,’ and brings the rhythm during live shows and recordings. Running from a passion only lasts so long, and Melissa is diving straight in and making up for a lost time. She hopes to build a community of ‘Hale Raisers’ through live gigs & community building in the indie music space. Another EP is currently in the works that will be co-produced with her husband and collaborated with independent artists she’s met along her re-found musical journey. Melissa’s debut EP is finally out in the world, and she’s ready to keep moving and growing. Is it been a HALE of a journey to get here? Wanna ride shotgun?
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t, but a journey I wouldn’t take back. I went through small mental instabilities with my manic depression/bipolar diagnosis and had toxic people who made me feel like I wasn’t good enough.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a singer-songwriter and musician. I play guitar and piano, love singing, and am currently learning the drums; my husband is teaching me! I am also the music director/worship pastor at my Knoxville, TN church.
What characteristic of yours would you give the most credit if you had to?
Staying humble and grateful in everything. I don’t believe in luck but in hard work, being kind to others, and always sharing gratitude.
