Today we’d like to introduce you to Carter Smith .
Hi Carter, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved country music, loved the coastal country lifestyle (fishing, beach, etc.). I picked up the guitar around 17 and didn’t start singing until 19. I played collegiate baseball at Florida State University and played/created in the 2019 College World Series. I transferred to Lipscomb during my COVID year and played a year of baseball there while pursuing my music career. I returned to Fort Myers, FL, worked in Real Estate, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. DEP’d in with a ship date for August 24 but had re-direction and decided to move back to Nashville in late July. I signed my release papers, and just like that, I have released 3 singles since I moved here and have plenty more coming all way. It also opened for Trey Lewis, sold out a show in Tallahassee, FL, and has future tour dates, including one with Dillon Carmichael!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been relatively smooth; the COVID scenario screwed up many of the plans I had, not only for music but for my baseball career; however, God is in control and has funny ways of showing you the way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a full-time musician based out of Nashville, TN. I specialize in writing songs and singing country music; I have recently been doing live shows, primarily in the Southeast United States. I recently published a song about my Alma Mater, Florida State University, titled ‘You & FSU, ‘ which allowed me to sell out my first show in Tallahassee, FL. About my music career, that would be my most proud achievement. My ability to have sound within the country industry sets me apart from the others. I don’t get my sound from anybody as I pave my way in songwriting and voice. Without being too beachy, my coastal vibe treads the line between tropical country and valid country, and I feel it is a beautiful, unique sound that not too many country artists own like me.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising that most people might not know about me is that I was DEP’d into the Navy before pursuing a career in music and decided to put it on hold to chase this dream.
