Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Lawson.
Hi Christopher, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstories.
Years ago, I had a health issue with my cells. A childhood friend from Toronto told me about the therapeutic aspects of writing; this led me to songwriting and creating music. I never imagined doing what I am doing today; creating inspiring videos and uplifting the human spirit through music. Everything else just fell into place after.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, as life never is. The music industry is very competitive, so one has to become prolific and good at what one does. I am not there yet, but I get a little better every day. Another issue is funding. If you don’t have any money and are a relative unknown, it is tough to get help. I decided from the beginning that whether I get help or not, I will do it, fuelled by my passion, strength, and values. Doing it all takes all your time, but it’s worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I may have one of the largest catalogues of unrecorded music out there. People are drawn to the real honesty of my work. Honestly, I couldn’t say which creation is best; this theme is also consistent in the public domain. Everyone seems to have their favorite. To date, 13 songs have been recorded, but I released these 5 singles under my name with the Zeddrecords team in Toronto. Flame, Say Yes, My Time, Secret, and Bad Girl. These singles have gained traction and have done well.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Always create from the heart. Take nothing or no one for granted.
