Hidden Gems: Meet Brandon Sharp of Fleet By SSC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Sharp.

Hi Brandon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Growing up in the automotive world it was only natural that I developed a passion for cars at a young age. Growing up my family owned a garage and later a small, used car dealership in small-town Alabama. This exposed me to a wide spectrum of car culture from muscle cars and classics to commercial trucks and off-roaders. From the time I could hold a wrench, I started to learn the trade. Growing my passion and insight into the automotive world.

Through my time in college and my early professional days in sales, my passion for the automotive industry followed me and remained in the background.

After years away from the automotive industry, I spent time working in the utility industry and later international shipping. A series of family tragedies was the catalyst for some self-evaluation of my life. These unexpected deaths made me reevaluate my life and pursue my passions in life and spend more time with my family.

My passion for finding, building, and creating automotive dreams is the foundation of Fleet by SSC. Fleet by SSC is a new dealership concept and evolution of the small garage in rural Alabama. The place where I learned my skills and grew my passion for this industry. An internet-based dealership and builder providing a curated selection of classic Trucks, SUVs, and muscle cars alongside commercial vehicles for small to midsize businesses. My team and I search the country and hope to soon search the world to find build and refresh vehicles and fulfill dreams. From the person looking for the car of their dreams to the new business owner needing a van to make his small business dreams a reality.

I started this company as a way to live my dreams, spend time with my family and utilize my automotive gifts. The feeling of delivering a dream to our clients never gets old. As we continue our growth we continue to expand our offerings including our first full ground-up build just days ago. We have plans to open our Chattanooga Showroom this summer and Nashville showroom the following year.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
This road has always been in front of me but it has not been a straight path. After working in the highly intense world of international shipping and seeing my family suffer from the long day and nights in the office. Oftentimes, begging to see my son for only a few minutes a day, began to take a toll. A tragic summer became the catalyst for my pivot back into an industry I love, and to focus on time with my family. I left that small town garage at 18 for college and it turned into years away from the industry and putting my passions on hold as a chased my career in sales and started my family. Though the automotive world was always present in the background, I never had the time and space to pursue my passion for building and creating cars. As I progressed through my career I started adding vehicles to my personal collection.

In April 2020, my son was born and this was a pivot point in more ways than one in my life. I parked the sports cars and picked up the off-roader keys. Discovering the fun and family enjoyment I could have off-roading and Overlanding inspired my current direction. Starting from scratch with a dream and a small inventory in the summer of 2020. Now, we are rapidly growing into our place in the automotive world. We have started our first full restoration and build of a 73 Bronco. Additionally, we snagged a K5 to put our twist on.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in vintage trucks, SUVs, and commercial vehicles. Offering a curated selection with the option for in-house modification. We have knowledge and insights that span generations of the automotive world. We love to find, secure, and build a wide swath of off-roaders in unique and iconic ways.
