Life & Work with Olivia Rose Mobley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Rose Mobley.

Hi Olivia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I first moved to Nashville back in 2013 to study music business at Belmont University. During my time interning and meeting many inspiring creatives, musicians, photographers, etc., I realized that styling was a way for me to fuse together my love for music and fashion. I first started styling for friends who were in the industry and then I landed an opportunity to be the assistant stylist for a successful celebrity stylist.

After assisting for 3 years, I finally made the leap to go out on my own as a stylist. Slowly gaining clients over the years through word of mouth lead me to grow my business into what it is today. I am very thankful for the opportunities and experiences I have had over the years and I am looking forward to continuing to grow and evolve.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating my career as a stylist has not always been easy or glamorous. It takes a lot of hard work and willingness to be flexible and surrender control. Owning a business and being creative is a vulnerable career path. Through the years, I have had to put myself out there and deal with rejection in many different aspects.

I also definitely have moments where I struggle with comparison and self-doubt. Since my creative work is a representation of my business, I find that it can be easy to be critical. These setbacks can make it hard to stay persistent and motivated but I have learned to stay grounded in my purpose and keep pushing through.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a fashion stylist, I work specifically with celebrity clients and musicians on projects like photoshoots, editorials, music videos, and red-carpet/appearances. I also help clients with establishing a personal style or image. Logistically, there is a lot of prep work that goes into each project, and my day-to-day looks different depending on if I am on set, at client fittings, and everything in between.

I am most proud of the fact that I get to help my clients feel the self-confidence that comes with wearing an outfit they truly love. I really enjoy creating a collaborative experience for my clients because fashion and style involve so much self-expression.

What’s next?
I plan to keep growing and expanding my business by taking on more projects and clients. I hope to continue establishing a diverse set of opportunities and clients because it is important for me to never stop learning and challenging myself.

I hope to expand my team so that I can tap into the social media side of fashion as well. I feel like there are so many different ways to evolve and grow my business which keeps me inspired and excited for the future.
