Check Out Elz Bentley’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elz Bentley.

Hi Elz, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I guess you could say I started by accident or, by chance, crazy enough, it wasn’t my plan to be a rapper like my whole life. I always loved music, though. There was no escaping it if I wanted to. My dad traveled in a band, I sang in church, and my older brother bought every rap cd known to man when I was younger and played them all extremely loud every chance he got. We were chilling one, and a producer homie of mine at the time tossed me a beat CD and was like, “aye man, let me see what you come up with; we will go record in a couple of days.” That’s how my career started. I didn’t know how much I would fall in love with the process, how people would gravitate toward my music and how good that would make me feel. Here we are 10 years later, and I’m still at it. Still in love with the process, the expression, the art, and the feeling!

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Not! I’m from a small town, and it’s hard to catch eyes from here. But the cliche, anything worth having will probably be hard, so I roll with it. It hasn’t been the most supportive area in the past, but it’s moving more toward what we want in that area, along with just real-life things that can get in the way of your dreams, family responsibility, work to fund this expensive dream, etc. It makes the victories much sweeter and makes me want to work harder.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with what you do?
Of course, I am a hip-hop/rap artist. First and foremost, that’s my passion, as I said before. Within that, I specialize in storytelling, but that’s easy to listen to. It’s very clever lyricism over top of mostly southern-style beats. If someone wanted to get to know me and my style, I would suggest they start with my most popular track, “Mojave Ghost,” and explore the ‘WINSday EP’ from there. Outside of that, I am the owner of ‘Dub Club,’ the name of my brand, where I push my music merch. It’s taken on a light of its own as people love that we push a Winner’s Mentality, for example, “Don’t be a Loser,” “No losses, just lessons,” & “WINERGY.” Those are a few of our slogans. The mindset of just trying to learn from setbacks and wanting to WIN sets me and our movement apart.

What’s next?
I am planning my second tour on the 23. I went on my first ever 5 cities in 8 days this past year. I am trying to build on that and keep checking off goals with the brand ( Dub Club ). To anyone reading this, I want to say: be on the lookout for the name Elz Bentley; I hope we cross paths soon! Keep the good WINergy going!
