Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Red Moore.
Hi Matt, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Through my teens, I played in a high school garage band that lasted through college, after which I began fronting various bands and playing cover gigs as a career.
In more recent years I’d joined a regionally successful band called C2 & The Brothers Reed (later renamed Kentucky Ruckus) and started my own band just called Matt Red Moore. We’ve played a myriad of festivals such as Louder Than Life, Bristol Rhythm & Roots, Floydfest, etc., and played with tons of amazing shows all over the east side of the US.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Struggles: COVID, bandmates leaving to pursue other endeavors, labels withdrawing, bus breakdowns–everything that could stand in the way inevitably will!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a vocalist and songwriter foremost, I also play guitar in every ensemble I’m currently in.
The sound of my voice is what people notice first–with a high-range rasp much like 90’s grunge singers.
I’m proud to have made it this far; there’s been a ton of work on my end but I’ve had a lot of help from the people around me who believe in what I’d do.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is Don’t Quit. One dead-end doesn’t mean stopping there–you’ve got to fail fast, recover, and choose a different path. And if there isn’t one, make one.
