Inspiring Conversations with Angela Lee of Blessed Beginnings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Lee.

Hi Angela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I began Blessed Beginnings in 2009 to help meet the needs of expectant and new parents in the Middle Tennessee area. As a registered nurse for twenty-two years, I have a background in labor & delivery, mother/baby postpartum care, lactation, and childbirth education.

I had a deep desire to work with families in the comfort of their own homes as they worked through the joys and challenges that come along with breastfeeding. Since 2009, the company has continued to grow and we now have a team of six board-certified lactation consultants serving families in Davidson, Williamson, and Maury counties.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although I am passionate about providing quality lactation care to families, the path to starting this company was anything but smooth. Prior to starting Blessed Beginnings, I had never owned my own business and I have learned so much along the way. When I got started, I had a vision for what I wanted the company to look like. The early years were hard, doing it by myself.

But as I started to build rapport with pediatricians and OB physicians through the years, I gained some momentum and started seeing the results of hard work. After 14 years in business, I have truly accomplished more than what I thought was possible back in 2009 and it fuels me with excitement for the years ahead. We have an incredible team and work so well together!

We’ve been impressed with Blessed Beginnings, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We provide in-home lactation consultations and work with moms and babies throughout the first year of life. We take most major insurance plans, and about 80% of our clients have insurance coverage for all their lactation needs.

We cover breastfeeding basics, pumping, bottle feeding, and returning to work, as well as help with starting solids, all in the comfort of your own home. We truly strive to help parents achieve their feeding goals, whatever looks like for them and works best for their families.

What are your plans for the future?
Our growth as a company through the years has been slow and steady.

I will continue to add additional lactation consultants to our practice as we grow and expand our service coverage area even further. We will also be adding some online learning options for parents wanting access to our tips and tricks, but who happen to fall outside our coverage area.
