Check Out Taylor Hungerford’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Hungerford.

Hi Taylor, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
SilverSparkPrintworks started as a necessity. I was making posters for my music act, Tar & Flowers, and was being asked by other artists who was making my posters.

When I said I was doing them, said artists asked me to do theirs. From that, my graphic design work eventually gave way to my photo and video work – also for other artists. Today I am happy to say that I have been able to use my skills to benefit the music community and contribute to the culture of Americana music here in Los Angeles.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
SilverSparkPrintworks has never really been a business but an outlet for my graphic design and visual creative endeavors. In this sense, it has always been a joy.

It has only been recently that my work shooting and making content for other artists has turned into any sort of business. I am grateful for every opportunity and job I’ve been given.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I would say this all started with my music in my Americana act Tar & Flowers. I have always been obsessed with the culture of the west. I initially tried to make my posters like old playhouse advertisements you might find in the wild west. From there I have developed my aesthetic more into something unique that incorporates this older sense of graphic design into something more modern.

My photography and film work also follows this tradition as it is very straightforward and rough and tumble – but real and genuine in its imperfection. So far as it is unique from other artists, people keep hiring me to make content for them, so I guess I’m doing something singular in that sense.

What matters most to you?
Telling the truth in your art. Many types of content in the world today are meant to bamboozle and trick people, and I want to do no such thing. My art is like me – straightforward, transparent, and genuine. I also think people can sense that in my work.
