Today we’d like to introduce you to HumorUs.
Hello HumorUs, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
We’ve been best friends since high school, and none of us every thought we’d become musicians. The founding idea of making music together was to simply see what we could do – to just humor us for a while and see what happens. Now, it’s become a space for us to cope with and articulate our emotions better than we could without instruments.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The process has been anything but a smooth road. It’s taken a lot of willpower and sacrifices to prioritize the band as a career, but at the end of the day, it’s all worth it. The long nights, the day jobs, and every obstacle make us realize more and more that music is what we love to do the most.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’re a band that values quality over quantity. For every record, we make an effort to find new ways to make the songs. We’re not about doing the same thing over and over, you know?
There’s so much care that’s put into the instrumentation not only being different but also lifting the emotion to the appropriate place for each song. It isn’t just songs to us. Every piece is about being as true to ourselves as possible and finding a way to turn it into something cathartic for both us and any listener. That’s something we’re truly proud of.
What are your plans for the future?
Right now we are working on our best record yet. Going through the wildest of experiences to the brutal vulnerability of what we’re afraid to talk about, this project makes us the band we always wanted to become. There’s a lot for our fans to look forward to!
