Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Kelley.
Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in the real estate industry for 16 years and actively selling for 7 years. I started working in property management in 2007. In 2008 I was thinking about becoming a Real estate agent, but I never pursued it at that time. I kept working in property management where I started off as a leasing assistant, worked my way up to assistant manager, and eventually was promoted to property manager. I ventured into other career paths, but I was always taken back to what I loved which was real estate. I started reading and hearing more about real estate, purchased my first home in 2014, and a year later I decided to pursue getting my license.
I didn’t sell anything for the first 5 months as an agent. However, I was determined to get my name out there. I remember ordering 100 business cards and I handed out all 100 in one day. I started marketing on social media which was not as trendy as it is now, I made flyers and posted them all over town, and one day I received a call from a relative with a friend looking to buy, and my business kept growing from there. I am blessed to have a referral-based business. I do not take that lightly and that is a compliment on my ethics and how I treated someone during the time I worked with them. Helping others is an extreme passion for me. Creating long-lasting relationships, helping others establish generational wealth, and educating my clients are my top priorities.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth journey! I started from the ground up. I didn’t know anything about the work it took to be an agent. I learned a lot in real estate school but the physical and mental work they do not teach you.
I used to get discouraged trying to make others believe in me and that I could do this. When you are new at something everyone will not believe in what you can do. However, I was determined to keep pushing until someone took a chance with me. Put it this way, while others are sleeping, I was constantly working!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Property Manager for a top management company in Nashville.
Licensed Real Estate agent currently brokered with simpliHOM-The Results Team. I am also connected with a builder in Murfreesboro Michaels Homes. In the past year, I have learned a lot about new construction from the ground up.
I am also a multi-licensed agent selling in Atlanta, Georgia, and surrounding areas.
Any big plans?
I am planning a lot, lol. Actually, I am pursuing to get my broker’s license and will get my own brokerage in the future. I love to teach so that would be a no brainer for me. I have helped so many new agents and I love to see others grow.
