Today we’d like to introduce you to BIZZY.
Hi BIZZY, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was originally the sports kid of my family. Music was also a thing I did on the side. My long-time goal was to be an Olympic swimmer. I swam from age 3 all the way to 17. Everything started to shift when I injured my back and couldn’t compete at the level I was competing at previously. I started feeling more and more called to music and writing but had no idea where to start. I applied to Belmont University for college.
I always knew I wanted to be an artist but was too scared to put myself out there, I couldn’t even sing in front of my family, I had such bad stage fright. I went to Belmont and labeled myself a “pure writer” and wrote for other artists for about three years. Covid hit and I had the time to realize that the only reason I wasn’t being an artist was because of fear, and that’s no reason at all.
I started to put myself in the room as the artist with close friends and wrote for myself for about a year until I wrote “Anybody” which was the first song I released. I wanted to wait to put music out that really felt RIGHT and true to me. Not just put something out to have it out.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think there’s such a thing as a “smooth road” and if there is then someone PLEASE show me.
I think the biggest struggle for me is a comparison and striving. I focus so much on the future and what I want it to look like that sometimes I forget to pause and realize how blessed I am to be here and how far I’ve really come.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an indie pop artist based out of Nashville. My specialty is my songwriting and each song I write is 100% the truth. The way I process my life is through songs so when the audience hears a song they are essentially just hearing my diary to music.
Doing this is both scary and rewarding because it’s extremely vulnerable but when people hear it and resonate with it, it makes it worth it.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I originally wanted to be an Olympic swimmer.
