Conversations with Tailah Scroggins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tailah Scroggins.

Hi Tailah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Nashville, which means I have always been surrounded by great music, churches, and creativity.

When I was twelve, I begin songwriting as a way to process life. Throughout high school, I began recording music with my cousin who was a producer and we had so much fun.

As a young adult, I began having powerful encounters with God. I was raised in a Christian home, but I never personally had a relationship with Jesus until my teenage years. The more I fell in love with Jesus, the more I wanted to write songs for Him. Growing up in Nashville, you are exposed to so many great songwriters who know how to tell an impactful story. As a result of being mentored by country writers, my Christian songs have a storytelling side to them that you don’t always hear in that genre. Musically, I have always loved house pop. My musical style can be described as powerful lyrics accompanied by an ethereal, Indie-Pop sound.

In 2021 I began creating videos on TikTok sharing my faith and helping others grow in their relationship with God. To my surprise, my videos went viral. I have been creating faith-based content, preaching, and sharing my worship music for the last two years, and have reached over 30 million people with the gospel.

I currently work alongside my husband, Jerricho, who is my music producer and five-time Grammy award-winning engineer/producer.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Everyone has obstacles and challenges. We can’t compare our story to anyone else’s. Oftentimes, especially on social media, we can see someone who is successful and feel like we don’t measure up. But we don’t know the pain, the grinding, and the suffering it took them to get there. We only see the stage, the trophies, or the smiling family. That being said, it has not been a smooth road. During college, I had a falling away from my faith for a season. It was a dark two years and I struggled with depression and anxiety the further I drifted from God.

I lived for the world, and no amount of friends, romantic relationships, parties, yoga, or meditation could fill the emptiness I felt. At my lowest point, I cried out to Jesus and he met me in my tiny college apartment and I rededicated my life to Him then and there. He delivered me from depression and anxiety and filled me with peace and hope. The pain and healing process that I went through during that time has equipped me with the tools necessary to walk others out of darkness and into His light.

He will take our mess-Timony and turn it into a testimony! I always try to embrace struggles. God used Goliath to get David on the throne. Your giants aren’t meant to defeat you, they are meant to promote you.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am creative in almost every sense of the word. I am known as an online creator and influencer and use my platform as a creative outlet for my faith. I am a Christian and Worship songwriter/artist. In fact, I have a new song called “Gardens” that is releasing this May. I am so excited about it, because it’s a Christian breakup song, and there aren’t very many of those. I wrote it five years ago in college, and my prayer is that it will help heal those with broken hearts.

In addition to music, I am a digital creator. In 2021 I began making videos on TikTok sharing my faith journey.

During the pandemic and shutdowns, people were so depressed and hopeless. I believe that was one of the main reasons why my content began going viral. Thousands of people were commenting on my posts and telling me that my videos were giving them hope. Some went out and bought a bible or went to church for the first time. Others would pray along with my videos and testify that they had a powerful encounter with God.

Ever since then, I have been creating faith-based content, preaching, and releasing Christian and worship music. In the last two years, I have reached over 30 million people with the gospel, which is just unbelievable. I currently work alongside my husband, Jerricho, who is my music producer and five-time Grammy award-winning engineer/producer.
