Life & Work with Marquis Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marquis Robinson.

Hi Marquis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
How did it all begin? Let’s imagine a 6-year-old little boy sitting by the hillsides of the Mississippi River with just a pen, a sheet of paper, and a straw in his mouth.

Just joking…. I know that everyone has this great background story to tell. As for me, I don’t not when it comes to writing and producing a stage play. I truly don’t know where it started. At 49 years old, and with everything I have done in life, at this point, there has been nothing leading up to me writing a book. I wasn’t good at English or spelling, and those were my worst subject. I’m not saying this to criticize myself, but to show that God can use anyone to convey his message.

This book has taken seven years to complete, and with all the obstacles I had to edit and format it myself. I don’t know how I did it, but I’ve learned to understand His will, and not question it. I know people are going to be who they are and find everything wrong with my writing, and that’s okay; it only helps me to get better.

But did you receive the message that’s the question? “Where Do I Belong” is the book and stage play that is trying to give? It is the understanding of relationships, kindness, compassion, courtesy, and how to show and give love to our fellow men and women. Under the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that God has provided for us, all we have to do is use it.

This is the only way we can begin to try to prevent the chaos of mass shootings and tragic suicides. Sorry, but to answer your question, how did I start it’s when God chose to start using me.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Doing something positive has not been easy, especially in a world full of negativity. Support is one of the biggest things we need to keep moving forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I thank God for the mindset and that ability to be creative in a few things like painting, cooking, and now writing.

With ownership of several businesses such as Goodie Grapes, House Doctor Decorations, and 7 Pieces Productions.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love growth, I love the challenge of trying to better myself each and every day. My dislikes are things and people who don’t make me feel good mentally, physically, and spiritually.
