Today we’d like to introduce you to Francina Persaud.
Hi Francina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story starts with immigrant parents who came to America to ensure I would be a citizen and be able to have every opportunity the American Dream offered. I was born in Queens, NY, was raised in northern New Jersey, went to college at the University of Delaware, and built a life there. I left for school in 2013, so when 2023 rolled around I knew after 10 years in the same place it was time for me to chase my entrepreneurial dreams. For the last 5 years, I had worked under a phenomenal mentor, Chuck Sullivan, who gave me complete hands-on training on owning your own business by letting me manage and run Sully’s Irish Pub.
I had no experience in a restaurant or hospitality when he hired me, but with the way my parents raised me and his fine-tuning of my skills and abilities, I was able to conquer any task or endeavor that was thrown at me…especially COVID. By the end of the covid restrictions, I was completely burnt out and needed a break. I took the last year to bounce around and see if there was any other job I would be passionate about. No matter what I tried, I knew that I would need to build something for myself. So, this past winter, I started dabbling in the infinity jewelry world and it took off. I was able to book clients and events consistently and knew I could take the leap to turn it into a brick-and-mortar project. I had been to Nashville several times and loved all the fresh energy out here. Two months later I have a roommate, an apartment, and a dream to chase.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of the struggles I face is getting people to really buy into the idea of jewelry you don’t take off every day. What they don’t realize is that it’s a fun experience that’s not truly “permanent”.
The failsafe of this jewelry is that you can always use wire cutters to clip right through them! When you book an event with your friends or family members it turns an experience into a cherished memory.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
From a young age, I was always able to create things with my hands. I loved drawing, painting, sculpting, and building.
Anything that I could see someone else do and recreate with my own spin, I would try. That skill translates into so many aspects of my life. I would say that that’s the key that sets me apart from most people.
I have been able to take visions and turn them into realities whether that’s makeup, decorating a space, expanding a business, or starting my own business.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I book private appointments daily, but the best collaboration is doing pop-up events. I love going into another business and becoming a novelty experience that will drive more business for myself and them!
