Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Fidowicz.
Hi Eva, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In the Moment Events came at a time when ironically, I was not living in the moment. Life was moving fast, and so was I. Daily routines and to-do’s had me feeling like little Ms. Runaround, and even though memories were being made, I wasn’t able to cherish them and appreciate the day for what it brought. In October of 2022, my husband and I were planning to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and also our first anniversary of moving to TN from Chicago a year prior.
It was a busy year, and looking back, one that taught me how quickly things can escape us if we don’t take time to slow down and celebrate the special moments. That October I planned a “‘Til Death Do us Part-y” to commemorate our 1st anniversary, and invited friends and family from TN and Chicago. It was a hit, and the rest is history! That day, In the Moment Events launched, and its vision was simple: we help you with your event, so you can slow down and enjoy the moment
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Let’s just say the learnings came far quicker than I expected! Even as a millennial who is on her phone for more hours than she cares to admit, I was surprised at how often I needed to create posts to stay engaged with any potential following I wanted to create. I learned hashtags are very much still a thing, and if you don’t create content often, you’ll quickly be forgotten.
Outside of my social media learnings, I made the mistake that many small business owners are often told to steer clear of: I worked for free (or close to it). In the early stages of my entrepreneurial eagerness, I charged far too little for the quality of my services, and my eye for detail. When clients would ask me for pricing, I quickly offered up a flat rate that wouldn’t nearly cover all of the equity I put into making an event special for all those that would be involved.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In the Moment Events is a small, female-owned event planning business servicing Middle TN. Our motto is simple: Celebrations should take a lot of effort, but look effortless.
When I started my business all I really intended was to share my talents with others and expand my creative side. So much more has happened since then! I’ve held one event each month since launching and was able to pull from my own Polish roots by hosting a traditional gathering with over 60 Polish speakers living in Nashville who came to celebrate their heritage (now an annual tradition for our growing Polish community in Nashville)
There are so many talented event planners out there, and they serve as my own inspiration. However, what sets In the Moment Events apart is our focus on truly making the experience one that will allow our clients and guests to slow down and savor the moment.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Staying humble is important when owning a small business.
You shouldn’t oversell what you are capable of, but also not shy away from standing by your talents. It’s a fine balance that’s often hard to find as you grow as a business owner and try to expand your reach. Let your work speak for itself, and the rest will follow!
