Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Allen.
Hi Kevin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I got started in this business over 20 years ago with my stepfather. Spent 12 years working for others before I made the jump on my own. I’ve had many ups and downs learning lessons along the way, but the work has always been there no matter I’ve tried to make our customers and their experience with us the main focus of what we do. I have 3 wonderful children.
They were teenagers when I took that jump but somehow they have turned into the best young man and two beautiful ladies a dad could ever want. After almost 10 years in business now I realize even more why I did it. I hope I’ve made them proud cause they are sure to make me proud. I hope that one-day complete comfort solutions can be along time family-run business that betters and serves our community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say no. I think if you ask anyone who has run a business or just lived life it never goes smoothly. I think as we grow we learn to look at the struggles a little differently. I used to obsess over them now I try to embrace them.
Every day is a new struggle we can only do our best to deal with each issue as it comes our way. Being in business is very similar. You plan you strategize and then you adjust to obstacles. Hopefully, we can do it well enough to keep going another day
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think our ability to relate to people is probably the thing I’m most proud of when I think about complete comfort solutions. I think having a vast knowledge of all the different aspects of our business is certainly important. You have to know all the ins and outs of sales design installation service and maintenance of all systems of all different makes and models. You have to understand airflow and duct sizing. What products may or may not be good for a particular customer?
But in the end, being able to develop relationships with people. Developing trust and a bond with someone that then allows you to pass that expertise along to them. In the end that’s what we want to stand for. We want to empower people with knowledge and allow them to understand the why’s who’s and how’s and ultimately keep them comfortable in their homes and businesses and have the peace of mind that they have a friend in us not just an HVAC company.
Networking and finding a mentor can have a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’ve had a few mentors, mostly the men I’ve worked with or for. Not sure I have advice on how to get one but for young folks maybe try listening to older folks lol they’ve been there and done that. I am very appreciative of my previous HVAC employers.
Both taught me everything I know and I in turn tried to soak up everything I could from them. The main thing I learned was you have to work as you own it before you actually own it.
Best advice network with anyone and everyone.
