Life & Work with Michael Fickert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Fickert.

Hi Michael, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started my career as a technical consultant for Vehicle Service Group after completing my Bachelor’s in Forensic Science and earning a Masters’s Degree in Homeland Security. Before starting my civilian career, I proudly served in the US Army and am a veteran of OIF. While at Vehicle Service Group, I gained valuable experience and developed my skills as a technical consultant. From there, I joined Todd McFarlane’s team, the creator of Spawn, and began developing his Digital Community, where I could learn and further develop my skills. I also worked for Mark Spears, the creator of Mark Spears’ Monsters, to help build his digital community and social media presence.

I grew my expertise in Web 3 and 3D printing during this time. I recently started my own company, Frisky Dingo LLC, specializing in developing high-end collectibles authenticated through blockchain technology. I have successfully sold out 4 Todd McFarlane digital collectibles featuring covers from Spawn comics. In addition to developing my products, I have created multiple online communities and viral social media content. My responsibilities have ranged from growing the community in size to developing reward systems through community engagement. I am passionate about what I do and am excited to continue growing my business and expertise in the field.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, but I’m proud of my accomplishments despite my challenges. For example, as a colorblind veteran of the US Army, reading maps was a significant challenge. Still, I learned to overcome this limitation by using different shades of colors and labeling maps with alternative descriptions. Similarly, as someone with physical disabilities, I’ve had to find new ways to work with digital art and adapt to physical limitations.

While these challenges were complex, they taught me to be resilient, adaptable, and creative in finding solutions. Despite these challenges, I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in my career. I’ve developed Web 3 and 3D printing skills, created thriving online communities, and even started my own company developing high-end collectibles authenticated through blockchain technology.

Through these experiences, I’ve learned to embrace my unique perspective and use it to my advantage. While it hasn’t been a smooth road, I’m proud of my accomplishments and excited for what’s to come.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work in the Web 3 digital collectible space and specialize in developing high-end collectibles authenticated through blockchain technology. I also have experience dealing with physical collectibles as well. I have extensive experience creating thriving online communities and viral social media content. I am most proud of being part of 4 sell-outs for Todd McFarlane’s digital collectibles featuring covers from Spawn comics.

Additionally, I am proud of starting my own company, Frisky Dingo LLC, and developing my line of collectibles.

What sets me apart from others is my background as a veteran of the US Army with physical disabilities, which has taught me to be resilient, adaptable, and creative in finding solutions. I bring a unique perspective to my work and have developed Web 3 and 3D printing skills, which sets me apart from others in the collectibles industry.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For those who are just starting, my advice would be never to stop learning and embrace challenges as growth opportunities. Additionally, it’s essential to clearly understand your strengths and weaknesses and surround yourself with a support network of people who can help you achieve your goals.

Looking back on my career journey, there are a few things I wish I had known when starting. First, I wish I had better-understood money and taxes before starting my business. This was an area where I had to learn as I went, but having a solid understanding of finances would have helped me make better decisions earlier on.

Additionally, I wish I had learned more about being a business developer than an employee developer earlier in my career. This would have helped me develop a growth mindset focused on expanding my business and seeking new opportunities.

Despite these challenges, I’m proud of what I’ve been able to achieve and excited about the future. I believe that anyone can achieve their goals and succeed in their chosen field with perseverance, dedication, and a willingness to learn.
