Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessie G

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie G.

Hi Jessie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been told that since I was in diapers I have been singing all day every day! I would hold talent shows in my living room and invite all my family members to come over to watch. At age 12, I started singing at the local fairs, school talent shows, and anywhere that would have me! I started winning singing competitions at age 12 and that fueled me to keep honing my craft as a vocalist.

After high school, I received a music scholarship to pursue a degree at Linfield College. I am so grateful that I was able to learn from such renowned musicians and professors for 4 years. After graduating college, I was presented with an opportunity to open a show for Grammy-Award-winning country music Artist, Gretchen Wilson. After the show, I made my way backstage and found a moment to seek her advice and mentorship.

After that, we developed a strong relationship as co-writers, co-producers, tour mates, and most importantly best friends! Ever since then, I have been making music, touring the world, and sharing stages with some of the biggest acts in Country and Rock n Roll! I am so blessed for where I am today and to have the best people surrounding my life!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a rollercoaster ride! Although my life is so amazing and I wouldn’t change a thing, I have been through many struggles, highs, and lows every step of the way. A lot of the struggles stem from putting music first.

You have to sacrifice a lot of what you want in your personal life. I have a motto of never saying no to a show unless there is a big reason for it. The pandemic was probably the biggest time of struggle (for most people I’m sure too). I was dropped from my booking agency, I had all my shows canceled touring with some major acts, and my record label went under… but the hardest hit for us was suffering through 2 miscarriages.

My mental health was in a pretty rough place at that time. After spending some time in that dark place I took back control of my life and happiness. I was able to write and record some of my most beautiful songs during that time. At the time, it didn’t feel like it but looking back now the struggle created some beautiful art that I hope will move people in good and hard times.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a rock-country artist and songwriter! I specialize in creating music and making it come to life on the stage and in the studio! I am most proud of my upcoming album set to release this summer!

I feel like what sets me apart from others is my voice and my shows. I try to be a professional vocal athlete! You can catch me running around at my shows and pushing my voice to the limits!
