Daily Inspiration: Meet Kristin Torres

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Torres.

Hi Kristin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi, my name is Kristin Torres and I am originally from Staten Island, New York. I had a very sick uncle as a child that inspired me to be in the medical field so I could help others. I completed my nursing degree in New York before deciding to take to the sunshine state to further my education and to gain expert experience in a level 1 trauma center. I worked at Tampa General for five years. While I was working in trauma, I was also a full-time student at the University of Tampa. I grew a deeper connection to aesthetics while attending my clinicals in dermatology.

I knew I always wanted to specialize in aesthetics. After completing my nurse practitioner degree, I had this burning desire to help people feel confident in their skin. I worked as an aesthetic nurse practitioner for a few years in Florida before moving to Nashville, Tennessee. I have been practicing aesthetics now for the last seven years.

On April 20, 2023, I was finally able to open my medical spa! I am the proud owner of THE SKN BAR, located in Nashville, Tennessee. THE SKN BAR specializes in anti-aging techniques by providing the highest quality cosmetic care and aesthetic injectables including neurotoxins, dermal fillers, Sculptra, PRFM treatments, skin assessments, micro-needling, and much more! I am known for producing beautiful and natural enhancements for faces across the United States. I am also recognized as a leading injector of booty enhancements.

I also have a great passion for helping and encouraging others. I provide both one-on-one and group classes of all kinds from introductory aesthetic courses to more advanced techniques. I find that education is the key to giving our patients the best and safest outcomes. I attend numerous conferences and training a year to keep up to date with all the latest and greatest for my clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a bumpy road, to say the least! They say the best view is after the hardest climb! I have gone back and forth from different states trying to find exactly where I felt like I belonged and where my practice belonged. I have been trialed with the hardships that many business owners go through with taking the huge leap to go out on their own!

I would not have done anything differently. I love my journey and the road which lead me to where I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a passion for making people feel their absolute best in their skin. I specialize in natural enhancements which NEVER look overdone or would make someone’s appearance change. I enhance a patient’s natural beauty to make their best features pop! I also am known for enhancing and sculpting booties! I have a nickname for being Nashville’s Booty Queen. Many walks along the red carpets have been enhanced beautifully by me!

I am proud of my business and the team that I am building! I have hired another provider, Haylee, a nurse practitioner. I hope to have a large team of providers one day!

I think what sets me apart is the fact that I am honest with my patients and we have honest conversations about their goals and what they don’t need. I will say no, I will make sure they leave feeling their absolute best and the treatment will be something that will enhance their appearance!

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
I am a risk taker and set high goals in my personal and professional life. I find that in my life, my proudest moments have been when I have come out on top against all odds! Sometimes, I think to myself, “Am I taking too much of a risk here?”

I’m so glad that I had the courage and did it anyways. I wouldn’t be able to say I would have THE SKN BAR if I did not take the chance and believed fully in myself. I have a wonderful support system that encourages me to be the best version of myself I can be!
