Daily Inspiration: Meet Dustin Spears

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Spears.

Dustin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in a musical family and learned from an early age of 8 years old. Growing up, I played several instruments such as drums, piano, guitar, and many more. It wasn’t until I was 18 that I started singing and writing songs. At the age of 27, I got my first publishing deal in Nashville TN where I had a couple of songs on hold from several mainstream artists.

However, I had no luck there it was a few years later that I met The Lacs. I pitched a song to them and a few months later Red Neck Tan was put out and I was a featured artist. That then led to a three-month tour and I’m now working on an EP with Dirt Rock Empire Label. Nowadays, I’m playing around the Us as an acoustic act.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a very long road full of ups and downs.

From making my auditions on the voice then being told I wasn’t interesting enough to having songs being recorded by mainstream artists then last-minute phone calls from artists decided not to put the song out. That’s what makes this job interesting. If it were easy everyone would be doing it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve been doing music full-time for 7 months now.

My biggest accomplishment was paying my bills with my guitar and having my first mailbox royalty check. My humor and the live show set me apart from other entertainers.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Riding in my grandpa Elcamino.
