Daily Inspiration: Meet Victoria Steelman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Steelman.

Hi Victoria, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am the daughter of Joe and Ann Rhoden. My father Joe was a rising country music singer who passed away suddenly in a work-related accident when I was a baby.

My mother told me that the night before my father’s untimely death I was bouncing on his back trying to sing “He’s got the whole world in his hands” to which he told her, Ann I believe we have a little singer here. My mother raised all 7 of her children on her own which made life all about simply surviving. Life was hard, but it made me who I am today and I wouldn’t trade it. I have learned to trust in God and his timing, and I know we will see my Father again in heaven, maybe we will even sing together in that heavenly choir.

My Father was right that night, I do love singing, and also ministering about the love of Christ. I have been blessed to have had many opportunities to do just that. I am not unlike a lot of singers and ministers, I got my start in school/church choirs, and teaching Bible studies through my home church. Fast forward to 5 years ago when I was asked by my friend Shelsea Becker to join her ministry called She Will Conference. An incredible ministry where I am blessed to travel the nation with her team of ladies with our one-day women’s conferences. We are blessed to help encourage women where they are through God’s Word to go one step deeper with God.

At one of our She Will conferences I met one of the owners of Positive Country Records, Bev McCann. Bev and her business partner Jim Sheldon later heard me sing at an MCCF (Music City Christian Fellowship) event and offered me a record deal with their label! My new album and first single will be coming out this summer, I feel so blessed, God’s timing is perfect!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

No, my journey hasn’t been easy. The relationships lost has been the hardest part of this journey.  David pens it well in Psalms 55:12. “If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship.” lost caused me the greatest pain.

I can say without a doubt The Lord has truly used it for my good today! James 1:2-4 “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
The testing of my faith was hard. I have learned that people will be people and fail you, life will happen and it will stretch you in ways you can’t imagine. Keeping the faith that The Lord was going to fulfill His promise to me has not always been easy but something beautiful happened on that rocky road that is sweet today.
When I look back all I can see is God’s protection and his grace on my life. I see him working things out in every situation. You can’t appreciate the calm without the storms. I am not even close to this journey being over, it is truly a beginning in so many ways. I know I will face new mountains and that’s ok because I know He is with me and I will be stronger for it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer/songwriter and minister. My specialty is being used by God through His anointing to minister truth and love through His Word and my music. I am known for my transparency and my love for Christ through everything I do.

It may sound weird because it is not out yet, but I am most proud of my upcoming album. I was blessed to have Mark Fain as my record producer and Steve Chandler as my sound engineer, these two are incredible! They have taken my music to a whole new level. I truly believe it is going to minister to people in a new and beautiful way.

What sets me apart from others is my singing voice, it is lower than you would expect, I mean I’m not going around singing smelly cat like Phoebe from friends but, it is something people often mention.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
It’s an honor to be interviewed for Nashville Voyager Magazine, some fun facts to know about me are my husband Barry and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in September, we have a blended family of 4 sons, we have 4 daughter-in-loves, and going on 9 grandchildren! Remember this, NEVER give up on your dreams and God’s timing is always perfect!
