Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny 2 Gunzz.
Hi Danny, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been rapping and making music since I was like 12 years old, my oldest brother and uncle were rappers so it was always around me. I also have a lot of others who influenced me artists like; Gucci Mane, Lil’ Wayne, UGK, Future, Biggie, Three6mafia, 8ball, and MJG. I grew up bumping all this so I came equipped to start making my music. I find inspiration all around me: from the streets of Nashville hoods to the serene beauty of our natural environment.
I make music representative of myself, my generation, and the environment I grew up in. I was raised in West Nashville off White Bridge Road but I was back and forth from West Nashville to Chattanooga’s neighborhood (Eastdale). I was into playing basketball, football, and rapping I thought the only way to know you were a good hooper was to rap, but I ended up heading down the wrong path getting into trouble, smoking, and drinking at a young age. I ended up being arrested and doing 4 years in prison that’s where I focused on my craft with creative writing, poetry, and rapping.
Once released, I had friends from school that I knew that had a studio (Clearwater Studios) that kept encouraging me to keep pursuing my music career, that’s when I recorded my first single, all gas, no brakes, and from there I just kept going with Omniscient Art as a friend, a producer, an artist that featured on my albums, who help me show my true abilities and style. Now I have two albums out and working on my third, which I just release my single Beat a Case from my third project which is out on all platforms.
So, if you want to dive into my life and see the things that I’ve experienced, gone through, and overcame then go check me out on Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Spotify, and Apple Music at Danny 2 Gunzz, I also have a website at Mr.2gunzz.com.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I was adopted at the age of 8 and struggled with depression and bipolar disorder for years, I’ve been to prison for my own mistakes, my daughter’s mother died, and my best friend was murdered.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Making music and storytelling in each one of my songs it’s like you can visualize my lyrics.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I had a lot of good luck with my case because it could have gone all the way left but I only ended up having to do was 4 years.
