Today we’d like to introduce you to Metro Council Candidate (District 14) Jordan Huffman.
Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Community organizing with a focus on protecting and enhancing Nashville’s neighborhoods is my passion. I am the most recent Past-President of the Donelson-Hermitage Neighborhood Alliance.
In this role, I was able to lead projects ranging from tornado recovery cleanups in 2020, to founding the first community Christmas Tree lighting in Hermitage in 2021. We also were able to pick up over two tons of litter off our communities streets in the past few years through various coordinated events with the amazing Beautification Commissioners in Donelson/Hermitage/Old Hickory.
I currently serve on the Board of Directors for Neighbor to Neighbor, a non-profit dedicated to empowering neighborhood leaders in the Metro Nashville area through ongoing training and development opportunities. I also serve on the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Community Advisory Board for the Hermitage Precinct and am an active member of the Donelson-Hermitage Exchange Club and L’Evate (FKA Leadership Donelson-Hermitage).
My wife (Lesley) and I have one son (William Neyland) and two dogs (Penny and Lily). We live in the Villages of Riverwood neighborhood located in Hermitage.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest obstacle I have faced has been not having enough time in the day to accomplish everything I want to! I start my days around 5:30 AM and am often tied up throughout the day.
My saving grace has been setting aside dedicated family time throughout the week. This keeps our family unit strong and ensures I stay focused on what is most important.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My day job for the last 12 years has been in multiple roles within Nashville’s healthcare informatics community. I am currently the Director of Product Management at I2I Population Health. We work with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) across the United States to help them improve patient outcomes via our product line and consulting services.
I also have an extensive background in campaign and government affairs. I have worked on numerous political campaigns on the federal, state, and local levels. My government experience includes collaborative projects with the State of Tennessee that involved negotiating various economic development projects along with providing key essential constituent services.
Who else deserves credit for your story?
My incredible wife Lesley. Community organizing often includes long hours outside of my day job. She keeps our family running on the home front when I have community meetings/events after hours.
On top of being my wife, Lesley is also my top advisor, best friend, and an amazing mom to our son.
