Daily Inspiration: Meet Jonny Rabble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonny Rabble. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Jonny Rabble

Tennessee Troubadour Rabblers (T.T.R.) started around bonfire gatherings in the midst of the pandemic in the fall of 2020. We would have small jams/picking parties with the various musician friends, and eventually, we hit record one night, and an idea sparked. Out of those open jams, T.T.R. started with just two core members, Jonny Rabble & Pastor Pablo. Our first gig was just Jonny & Pablo playing an open mic at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge.

It has been a very minimalist, D.I.Y. style band from the get-go. All acoustic instruments – whatever we had at our disposal at the time. We recorded a few tracks on an old Mac Book with a $50 USB mic, piece by piece; we recorded all the different instruments on those first few songs just between the 2 of us.

We then filmed a couple of music videos just using our phones and some cheap video editing programs, and eventually, it grew from there. In the videos, we recruited local musicians that we knew just to fill in actor parts, and through that avenue, some of them joined the band. We then found people hanging out in the local community and musicians looking for people to jam with on online platforms.

The band at its largest has nine people, but it is generally 5-7 players. So really, since our first recording and music video, we’ve just been doing what all the bands do – getting out there and gigging wherever they’ll have us, taking every opportunity as it comes.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It surprisingly has been a pretty smooth road for T.T.R. thus far. We’ve done quite a bit in the short amount of time we’ve been together, considering we’re totally independent as well.

I like to think it’s from all those years we all struggled in other music pursuits before T.T.R. and just the regular struggles in life, with barely getting anywhere and failure after failure. The music gods finally looked upon us and gave us grace – haha!

Aside from breaking strings all the time and scrambling to see if we even have the right one to replace the busted one, it’s generally been easygoing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
