Daily Inspiration: Meet Carson Butcher

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carson Butcher.

Carson Butcher

Hi Carson, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I think my story is similar to most people’s. I found a couple of things I really liked and just decided to stick with all of them. I started a band when I was 14, started acting at 18, and then started directing at 23.

Early on in my career, I was having dinner with someone that was pretty popular in the film space, after dinner he told me that I just need to stick to one thing to make it. I tried that for a while but honestly became pretty unfulfilled, so I went back to just doing the things I loved. Things will usually work out when you do that.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think working for yourself is always a rough road. Especially in the arts. There are no guarantee’s for anything. If you’re in the arts to make money, you should go do something else.

It takes YEARS to make a livable paycheck for most “artists”. You do it because the thought of working a non-creative job makes you want to jump off of a bridge. It’s a have-to thing for me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do multiple things. I’m not sure if I’m “known” for anything but some people know me as a director. I direct a lot of music videos.

I also make music. I’m in a band called “El Ray” we release 1-2 songs a month. When I’m not doing that I love to act.

Mainly for TV, and also some film when I get it. I’m genuinely proud of all 3.

I think the thing that sets me apart is dipping in and out of different mediums (a lot of people do that) but I think you usually see it after the artist doesn’t need to make any more money so they do a movie or vice versa.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Many ways to work with and support me!

#1 Check out my music
#2 If you need music video content hmu
#3 Hit me up on anything creative, I love being a part of people’s process!
