Today we’d like to introduce you to Davis DeLisi.
Hi Davis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Davis Camp DeLisi, and I am a freelance Graphic Designer and Art Director. I was born and raised about 30 minutes south of Nashville. Music and creativity were always very influential and encouraged throughout my upbringing. Later on, I studied Graphic Design at Belmont University, and since then, I have worked with boutique businesses, agencies, studios, and other artists that have given me valuable perspective when it comes to leading and collaborating with clients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being self-employed comes with its own set of hurdles. Working for myself, at times, can feel intimidating, overwhelming, underwhelming, and everything in between.
It’s easy to feel hindered by personal mental roadblocks like perfectionism, imposter syndrome, fear of success, next steps, XYZ. Amidst all of it, client notes can bring about some of the most uplifting or discouraging comments. However, I believe constructive criticism is essential, and it has empowered me to push myself as an artist and creative.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a freelance Graphic Designer and Art Director, and most of my work entails brand identity (logos), illustration, packaging, layout, or typography design. When I illustrate, I love mixing and matching muted and vibrant colors, while utilizing lines and organic shapes. I believe in the importance of design aesthetic and function. Designing visual narratives through art direction, typography, and strategy is my passion, and I believe all projects deserve to be explored with intention and soul.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I don’t love how touristy Nashville can feel, but I love that Nashville is filled with creatives. Nashville very much feels like a small town. You are always 1 degree away from someone you know. This opens up opportunities and creates more professional relationships with familiar faces.
