Check Out Andrea Moore’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Moore.

Andrea Moore

Hi Andrea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been an artistic person. Anything that allows me to be creative, create, and make lovely things, makes me happy. Like so many other people, my business journey started when I was in college.

I attended Northwest Florida State College in the panhandle of Florida, and my major was Graphic Design and Multimedia. I had multiple classes that concentrated on photography and that was when I fell in love with taking photos. Finding unique compositions, lighting, shadows, and angles, all created this amazing package that allowed me to be creative in a way that other media did not.

While making my way through college, I started taking photos of people for different projects that I had to complete. This was how my little business started. I can honestly say that my beginner’s photography was just terrible! But, like so many things, the more you practice the better you get. I am now a full-time photographer in the wonderful state of Tennessee and serve many wonderful clients through my passion.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always challenges that come along with running any kind of small business. Each day brings a new opportunity, whether it’s a struggle or an adventure.

Photography is not an easy business to maintain year after year, and there has been lots of sweat, tears, late nights, and heartache along the way. However, because I love this business so much, it’s 100% been worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a lifestyle photographer. This type of photography style is a lot less “posed” and more candid, capturing those genuine emotions from the subject in front of the camera. My business offers services for families, seniors, engagements/weddings, newborns, and maternity.

If I was to pick a specialty or a “favorite”, I’d have to say senior portrait sessions. There is something so lively and energetic about these adult kids getting ready to start a whole new chapter of their lives. Capturing their personality and style is always so much fun for me!

I try hard to stand out from the crowd. Photography is such a saturated market, so finding that special thing to set you apart is so important. I think the thing I am most known for is my flair for the dramatic: bold colors, unique posing, and artistic photo compositions. I have been in this industry for over a decade and it’s taken me almost that whole time to nail down my specific look, and I am so proud that I have been able to accomplish that.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting?
My biggest advice for those wanting to get started in photography is to just PRACTICE! Take your camera everywhere you go and take photos.

Test out what camera settings look best in certain lighting situations, play around with different angles, and don’t be afraid to think outside the box. There is also a wealth of free photography education that can easily be found by doing a quick web search. Anytime I come across a problem that I’m not quite sure how to proceed, the Internet has been a saving grace.

Art is 100% in the eye of the beholder, so get creative and show people the way that you perceive the world around you!
