Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Over 22 years in the same industry has had many ups and downs. Lessons all along the way and some really hard times too have made me who I am.
From being in corporate banking for 13 years to a small start-up to a large top lender, I have had my roles eliminated, let go, faced the 08-housing collapse, and had to make many hard decisions on staffing and leading teams.
Lesson – do the right thing even when no one is looking or will know about the sacrifices you made or what could have been. Lift others regularly and be an example always willing to help others and collaborate to create innovative ideas for execution.
Being let go by a friend, mentor, and boss for no performance reason was one of the toughest lessons as you realize this is a job, this happens a lot more than talked about and there is always ownership and unintended consequences.
How we choose to view that experience is what matters and how we move forward is key to growth.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Currently, we are seeing many people waiting to buy as they are hoping for lower rates, all while home prices continue to go up and are now projected to be around the historical 5% appreciation rate. The cost of waiting is real and where many miss out on opportunities to buy now and hold.
Buy something in your budget and hold it, maybe later rent it and move and start to leverage the power of real estate to build wealth. I do see over the next 5 years rates dipping back down, but not near the record lows we had, real estate to continue to appreciate and the cost of renting continue to go up as well.
Those that act sooner will have an advantage and options in 5 to 10 years vs. Those that wait for the perfect opportunity. Real estate continues to be one of the greatest wealth accelerators for millionaires and those aspiring to become millionaires.
