Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Miles.
Hi Maggie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started pursuing music seriously the year – 2018. I released my first single & played my first show that year, based in Northern VA/DC area. I moved to Nashville in 2019 & have never looked back. Music changed, shaped, and saved my life. In so many different ways,
In synopsis, that’s what I’m attempting to cultivate throughout my career. I want my shows or records to be a safe, open space for people to show up & feel known. And also…to have a great time. Music is meant to be enjoyed and to be felt. Deeply!!!!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh boy! You realize we’re talking about the music industry, right? Haha, I’m kidding. Mostly….
Yes, I have. Without putting too much on blast, I realize this is a song sung by most artists. Yes, it has been tough. I’ve hit the half-a-decade mark of doing this with my life & have already experienced 3 major shifts in my teams. 10+ different band configurations. Countless producers, management leaving, projects being shelved, the beloved global pandemic flushing everything related to touring down the drain, & more.
But the thing about it all? I wouldn’t change a thing. The music I have been able to write through all of this simply wouldn’t exist. If my first or even my second album had taken off in the ways I so fiercely dreamed they would, the songs I have in my pocket right now would not have been provided the friction under pressure to be crafted.
I’m glad that I’m working 4 jobs to save for the tour, I’m glad that I have no management, label, or booking. I am glad that songwriting is still my escape. It is hard. But when things shift, I’m going to be that much more grateful. This journey is worth the wait. It’s worth the time. It’s worth the effort. I’m so thankful that I get to do this with my life.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Thanks for asking!! The best way? If I’m in the area on tour, come see a show. But especially come swing by the merch table & say hey! I want to meet you!
If you want to, give my tunes a listen. I just released my sophomore album in May of this year – The Lack Thereof.
Check it out. I hope you like it, but you don’t have to.
