Inspiring Conversations with Justin Dyar of Lake Homes Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Dyar.

Justin Dyar

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I graduated from The University of Alabama in 2003 and started selling real estate on Smith Lake shortly afterward.

I started marketing the lake across the USA via Internet marketing and drew Buyers from all over to our beautiful lake. Fast forward 20 years, I am one of the owners of lakehomes.com and we are the largest waterfront brokerage in the US. We also started Beach Homes Realty and own beach-homes.com.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not a smooth road. I was young and did things “differently”. Jealousy from other Realtors has always been part of my world.

As you know, we’re big fans of Lake Homes Realty. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We market and sell waterfront homes, land, condos, and land tracts all across the USA.

We started at Lewis Smith Lake and have grown our firm to 30+ states across the Country. Our unique market niche allows us to work directly with vacation home buyers and sellers looking to invest in waterfront properties.

Who else deserves credit for your story?
My parents were and are my biggest supporters. My Dad paid for my real estate school because I did not have any money. I was a college kid with a couple hundred dollars in my pocket. I received great advice from a gentleman named Skip Reid.

I had in my mind I wanted to work for a hardware distributor as my family had a hardware store. He told me, Justin, you will never make $100,000 with Moore-Handley (the company that is now out of business). That was great advice and I am certainly glad I did not take a position which I was offered by them.
