Daily Inspiration: Meet Chrisy Owens

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chrisy Owens.

Chrisy Owens

Hi Chrisy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been bartending for 14 years at the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville.

This led me to start our mobile bar business in June 2020. I previously owned and ran a clothing boutique business for three years before launching my mobile bar service.

While I did enjoy the clothing business my passion has always been bartending. It seemed like a natural fit for me to carry over my bartending skills and experience to start this new journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, when we began this journey, we did not account for the world shutting down in the middle of covid. That was certainly a hard time to navigate and kick off a brand-new business.

The common issues have always been there like any other new business from pricing and staffing to wanting to grow too big without taking the necessary steps forward, to uncertainties and a sense of direction.

We have experienced growing pains like any new business, but your passion and drive are big factors in success.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work has many different titles and responsibilities that range from Owner, Planner, Coordinator, Communicator, and Bartender among many others.

It’s important to make sure the customer is satisfied. We work closely with the customer and venue to ensure they have the right bar menu that fits their event. We support the pickup and transportation of all products needed for the event. We arrive early to set up and help with tear down while ensuring a clean bar area.

We work hard to get the event on the right track with refreshing beverages and make it a memorable time that everyone is talking about. I’m known for my personality and professionalism while ensuring each one of my customers is satisfied with our service.

I’m proud of starting a business and showing my kids that there are struggles behind every business. But as long as you keep your passion and drive then you can do anything that you set your mind to. I have the best bartenders around! I could not do all these events without them as well. They are a huge part of our current and future success.

We strive to go out of our way to make sure everything is right for the event. We have helped other vendors that are at an event if they need help with anything.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
Like I have said before you have to have the passion and drive to get you where you want to be.

Do your research! From the insurance, licensing, and what you can and can’t do. When you hear comments of “Well it’s just bartending” take that time to help educate the individual.

There is a significant liability in this line of work that many people take for granted or don’t consider at all. You do not want to put your staff, your business, or yourself in a situation that could adversely affect the future of your family.
