Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Thomas.
Hi Lindsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I first began my career in Massage Therapy back in Northern California in 2010. I have always loved helping people, and the power of touch. I had been known to give shoulder rubs to family and friends for years and ended up putting myself through massage school a few years after I graduated high school.
I continued my education by getting trained in Reiki, Life Coaching, Hypnotherapy, and various other healing modalities such as Timeline Therapy® and Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). You could say I’m a bit of a holistic healing addict! I started in spas and clinics and within a few years opened up my private practice. I never could have imagined what was in store for my little business and I am beyond grateful. A career in bodywork is honestly one of the most relaxing and enjoyable jobs ever, and I am honored to do what I do!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning a small business is amazing and so gratifying, but it has its challenges. The work never really ends! There are texts and emails to return, marketing and networking to do, not to mention all of the brainstorming and time put into the admin side behind the scenes….social media, website, etc. I invest a lot of money into my business, studio, training, and offerings.
I may not be in the office 40 hours a week doing bodywork, but with all the outside work I am (and then some oftentimes!). It can be a lot, but it’s taught me how to have better boundaries with my time and energy. Also, while the majority of people I work with are incredible soulmate clients, I occasionally have people who just aren’t a match for whatever reason, and that can be tough sometimes.
I’m a sensitive soul! Another challenge has been how often I have had to move my business. From Northern California to Southern California, back to NorCal, and then over here to Tennessee; with multiple studio moves in each vicinity! Building a clientele takes time and patience and I have had to start from scratch multiple times.
There have been times I’ve almost thrown in the towel, but I am not the biggest fan of working for other people – and in the end, the pros far outweigh the cons for me! I’ve stuck it out and I feel so grateful and humbled to have achieved the success that I have. I don’t take it for granted!
We’ve been impressed with Pivotal Touch Healing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My passion is working with those who deal with anxiety and depression. I am passionate about it because I have dealt with those issues myself and have experienced how truly healing bodywork and the other healing modalities I do can be.
I feel it’s my duty in this life to share those skills and gifts and show up for others as a facilitator for growth. I desire to inspire awareness, connection, and healing…physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually! I specialize in deeply relaxing therapeutic bodywork that relieves stress in the neck, shoulders, and back, intuitive energy work that helps balance and restore the spirit, and life coaching that can help destroy limiting beliefs and heal past traumas.
I’m going into my 15th year in the Bodywork field, and 10th year in my private practice, have over 1600+ hours of training in various modalities, and am constantly learning and seeking to improve my craft and skills. This is my life’s work and one of my greatest blessings! My goal as a Holistic Practitioner is to help people step into the best versions of themselves that they can be, and achieve a greater quality of life.
I combine both my spa and clinical experience in the sessions that I offer. I love the use of aromatherapy, hot towels, CBD, my BioMat, guasha, fasciablasting, and cupping; and also offer an assortment of special enhancements that can be added to sessions like face masks, foot scrubs, scalp treatments, and more. I try to give the massage I love to receive! I want my clients to experience the relief that they need but also feel special, pampered, and nurtured- like royalty.
I believe what sets me apart is my energy and presence, the environment and ambiance I create, and that I am intuitive and intentional in all that I do. I also combine massage and reiki, and that’s something I’ve been told can be rare to find. I would say most of the clients that come to me have sought me out for that specifically, as well as my niche of anxiety/depression.
I’m proud of the safe and welcoming space I provide in my studio. I encourage everyone who walks through my doors to come as they are. It is a judgment-free zone; you are allowed to take up space there and be YOU. All are welcome here!
What were you like growing up?
I was homeschooled K-4th grade, and while my mom was a phenomenal teacher – I grew up a bit sheltered. I ended up going to public school starting in 5th grade and it was very much a shock and challenge for me to adjust! I was more shy overall back then, but I would toggle into being extroverted and sometimes get in trouble for cracking jokes, passing notes, and chatting with friends in class. I was deeply interested in and passionate about the arts – choir, dance, and drama.
My number one love is singing and I have done that since I was 2 years old! I also loved basketball and played for years. English was my favorite academic subject as I loved to write (songs, poems, short stories, essays, you name it!). I’m more of a right-brained person and am also neurodivergent, so although I’m smart- conventional schooling was not really for me. I’m so grateful to have ultimately gone to trade school!
