Hidden Gems: Meet Natalie Stewart of Stewart Healthcare Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Stewart.

Natalie Stewart

Hi Natalie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I was born and raised in South Florida, surrounded by a family of healthcare providers who are passionate about helping and serving others. I knew at a young age that I wanted to be part of the healthcare community in some capacity. In college at the University of Central Florida, I majored in Healthcare Administration, where I completed my Bachelor’s & Master’s of Science in that field. I interned at Florida Hospital and learned a lot about the hospital system.

I went on to supervise various physician’s practices for 3 years, where I learned about clinical operations, insurance filing, revenue cycle, accounts payable & receivable, customer service, marketing, and sales. I began health insurance consulting 5 years ago and have felt more fulfilled and impactful than ever before. My knowledge of hospital, physician, and clinical operations combined with my experience with insurance lends itself to my educational approach and expertise.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business 5 years ago as a 27-year-old female in a male-dominated industry has not always been easy. I started with a lot of “naysayers” that told me I would not last more than a year. I have never viewed myself as a “salesperson” either.

I’m introverted by nature, so overcoming my comfort zone and fear of failure has been an ongoing (but amazing) journey. Trying to fight against the stigma of our broken healthcare system has been a challenge, to say the least. It has not always been a smooth road, but it’s been a worthwhile road nonetheless.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed, independent health insurance broker. I help individuals, families, self-employed, and small businesses find health coverage to fit medical needs and budgets.

My license allows me to shop for every plan that’s available within each zip code and advise on the best option in terms of coverage and cost. I’m a service-based business, licensed in 32 states, so I do policy reviews and education, annual policy shopping, plan enrollment, claims reviews, and post-enrollment customer service (such as ordering lost cards, helping find doctors in the network, payment issues, etc).

My passion is for helping entrepreneurs find health insurance that no longer have coverage through an employer, after becoming a business owner or self-employed individual. I am known as a person with a huge “teaching” heart that cares about my clients on a personal level. I get to know someone well–their health, their business, their families, their clients, etc. It’s been a joy to build relationships this way! Each of my clients has my cell phone number– since most “insurance agents” get a bad rap, I strive to operate in a way that is honorable and trustworthy.

I am proud to have built a brand that is known for caring about people first and foremost. I take the time to talk to each person about their medical needs, and budget, and I spend a lot of time answering questions. I understand that health insurance is not a fun topic for most people, so I try to leave each person better equipped and knowledgeable to navigate our healthcare system.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I have an identical twin sister!

My whole family works in healthcare, and everyone else works in a clinical setting (nurse, doctor, radiation therapist), but my giftings and skills are best suited behind the scenes on the insurance side of healthcare.
