Life & Work with Noah Floersch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Floersch.

Noah Floersch

Hi Noah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska.

My journey as an artist and songwriter began around 2011, when in 7th grade, I received a banjo for Christmas. I quickly realized that I wasn’t disciplined enough to be an instrumentalist, and I pivoted to learning a few chords and writing lyrics instead. At the same time, I began teaching myself piano and GarageBand on the family Mac.

In high school, after writing for a few years, I began recording full songs on my school iPad and releasing them on SoundCloud. In my junior and senior years, I joined the choir and fell in love with live singing and performance.

In 2018, during my sophomore year of college, I released my first fully produced track “Girl from the Sidewalk”. It gained an unexpected amount of traction on Spotify’s “Discover Weekly” playlist, and I took that as a sign to release more music. By graduation, I’d released a few EPs, an album, and another 20 or so singles.

In August 2021, I moved to Nashville to pursue a career as an artist and songwriter, and by October 2022, I was working full-time on my music.

In 2022, I had a string of successful releases, including tracks like “Love You by Myself” and “Green Flash Sunset”. In 2023, the track “Ghost of Chicago” brought in a much larger audience, and I released my sophomore album “NOAH” in the fall.

In 2024, I’m embarking on my first tours, releasing some new solo music and a few collaborations, and working on a new album in the background…

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenges in my career never really stemmed from the creative side. I’ve always seen writing and recording as a pleasure and privilege, not a chore. The struggles I’ve overcome deal primarily with getting my art in front of an audience. Being from Nebraska, I never had connections with industry people, and my growth from the very beginning was as organic, slow, and grassroots as could be.

I’ve found success in marketing my music online with social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Even with my successes, that promotion and content is mind-numbing to create and wildly inconsistent in its results. This is nothing unique to me, but I’d be remiss not to mention it, as it is so central to the industry right now.

I will say, I’ve been lucky to have support from so many friends, family, and fans along the way, so the journey has always felt worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an artist first, a songwriter second, and all other hats hang on rungs below these two.

As an artist, I’m compelled to speak my truths in observation and storytelling as honestly and authentically as possible. My music should move people. It should be cool. It should be beautiful. And it should be mine, and mine alone. I’m uninterested in sounding like anyone or anything, just as I am uninterested in being the best at this, that, or the other. I just want to be VERY good at expressing myself. That to me is the mark of a true artist.

As a songwriter, I want to push boundaries in my lyrics, forms, and ideas. Not that I think of myself as groundbreaking at any level, but I always want to be stretching my capabilities and aesthetics.

What does success mean to you?
Success depends on what your goals are. Some people want fame, some want fortune, others desire a simple, happy life. To me, success looks like a fruitful career in music as an artist, songwriter, and producer. Longevity, legacy, and good times are all bonuses to that dream.

I’d like to have a house with a pool somewhere warm too.
