Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Jeanette.
Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started in voice and piano lessons before I can remember, and it has remained my passion ever since. I always loved music, performing, and creating. I strived to be the best in every school play, and talent show and was in my first recording group when I was ten years old.
Around that time, I discovered my love for acting and signed up for my first talent agency. I started out doing little projects and my parents encouraged me to stay grounded and never take roles or a series that would take me away from school or having a “normal childhood.”
I went on my first tour when I was 14 and started writing music that I had the honor of performing and went to college for music. In my junior year of college, I booked my first feature film, and looking back it was the people who believed in me that I can credit my success.
I am eternally grateful to my parents, the directors who saw potential in me, my agents, my professors, and people who had more experience in the industry that opened doors for me. A few years ago, I signed my first deal with Godsey Media and had my first top-10 record on the charts in 2023. I am very excited to see what the future holds!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles I faced was a car accident when I was completing my Senior year of college.
I was already working on a film in another state and pushing to complete assignments and get to classes. In the middle of it all, my car was hit and pushed into a concrete wall. I remember thinking that wall was the last thing I would ever see on this earth.
The accident and the injuries didn’t stop me. Thankfully to my support system, I was able to complete my Senior year on time and finish the film. Nothing worth having ever comes easy, but I try to remember that whatever I am facing, the sun always rises the next day, and God is always good.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Recording Artist, Songwriter Actress, and Model. I am most known for my role as a cheerleader in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, the Divergent Series, 90 Minutes in Heaven, Pitch Perfect 3, and playing on the TV show Nashville.
I am so proud of the record I poured into that was released last year. It was such a long journey and I worked on it for years. I am also proud of my roles in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and the Divergent Series because of the physical shape I had to be in for those roles. It required a lot of training, a lot of dancing, running, and even some fight scenes. There were days I doubted myself and my physical ability to do these roles and stunts, but it pushed me to work harder.
I think what has always set me apart is my red hair and fun personality. My agents have always called me their “yes girl” because if it is a challenging role or job, I find it most exciting.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is that God is always in control. Martin Luther King, Jr., said, “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
When you can’t see what’s coming next, or even what tomorrow could hold, just go forward. You never know how your life could change in one instant. I find that the smallest things bring me the most joy. I love to appreciate the beauty of a sunset, time with family or friends, enjoy a good meal, or even something as simple as a walk with my dog.
I am a strong believer in not letting happiness be dependent on something that can be lost. Happiness and joy should always come from within.
