Daily Inspiration: Meet Nathan Aronowitz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Aronowitz.

Nathan Aronowitz

Hi Nathan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started playing piano at the age of 5 and fostered the dream of playing music for a living ever since. The Arkansas bars and coffee shops that I would play in high school led to the decision to move to Nashville to take my career to the next level.

After a decade in the Music City of odd jobs, random gigs, and high hopes, I finally got to hit the road full-time, and am proud to say that I have been a full-time touring musician for three years now!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nooo, it has not. If you are chasing a dream, I don’t think it’ll ever be easy! I’ve tried and failed so many times, whether it was spending my life savings on making a record only for it to fall flat, or the years of self-promotion to no avail, or just working a dead-end job while doing everything I could to keep the dream alive.

To me, the key is passion and love for music…that is where it all started and is the only thing that can keep me, or anyone, in the game long-term.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a gospel/funk multi-instrumentalist who specializes in jam. I’ve kind of always been the odd man out, but that is what led me to the path that I’m on now…it’s good to be different, to be “You”.

Whether it’s with my record company “Sugar Shack Sound”, my band “Freedom Junction” or my persona in Cosmic Country “Sugarlegg”, I always try to express myself fully, in a refined and realized state…the thing I am most proud of is my “Sound,” something that is a product of simply being yourself to the fullest over time.

What are your plans for the future?
Aside from the massive touring schedule ahead with Cosmic Country, I’m excited about my passion projects with my label “Sugar Shack Sound.”

I’m releasing a new Sugarlegg record called “Sugar’s Blues,” an acoustic blues/soul album, producing a record for Admiral Funk, and writing and recording a new Freedom Junction album!

I’m always trying to get creative in new ways and live for my time in my studio during those precious few days I get off the road.
