Rising Stars: Meet Seth Bunting

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Seth Bunting.

Seth Bunting

Hi Seth, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I first started as a child, singing in church, writing songs, and performing musical theater. It wasn’t until I was a teen that I began to take music more seriously and got “discovered” at a singing competition by a talent agency. I moved to Nashville and started cowriting, recording, and touring professionally, propelling me into the music industry stardom at 16.

Through the years, I have released over three full-length studio albums, including country, gospel, and alt-pop, working with the best in Nashville and touring my music to share with new audiences consistently. Finding my voice, purpose, and story came from discovering myself through music. Once I realized how deeply a melody impacts my life and others, I became much more connected to the lyrics I was singing, leading me to the most authentic sound in my new pop record coming out this summer, 2024.

I have always been a self-love, growth, perseverance, and independence writer, and I never want to get too comfortable with my art. It is boundary-pushing for the box we put ourselves in. I love being an artist, creating music, moments, and memories that last forever.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have always struggled with self-acceptance, and this is a tale as old as time in my music. I grew up hiding a lot of my authentic self, not for any particular reason. I have an amazing supportive family and community, my interests as a child were not the interests of my peers which made me feel like I stuck out like a sore thumb. My biggest hurdle was getting out of the box I had put myself in for 18 years.

Once I let go of the idea of “Seth Bunting” and who that was, I could be a real version of myself. I have my own opinions and real happiness, stand up for what I believe, and sit in meetings confidently because I know who I am and what I am representing. You are never in a room alone; someone is always waiting for the representation you can give them with your voice, so don’t be afraid to use it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I am most proud of my journey. A lot of my fans to date have followed me from the beginning and seen the evolution of what has now become my music. For that, I’m very grateful that I was allowed to grow and share the growth I was experiencing in real time, and people accepted my art for what it is. I would say I’m most known for my live performances.

I grew up in musical theater, dancing and singing consistently, and I always loved stage production; I feel like my personality shines through when I get to genuinely and authentically perform my music and tell my story, and people connect with that because it’s real.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe taking risks is what life is all about; I would not be here if it wasn’t for taking a risk. Upon my list of risks, I first started when I moved away from home at 16 years old to follow a dream in Nashville, I was not advised, but it worked for me!

Still alive and taking risks ten years later! I risk the criticism of my art every time I release it, I’ve risked genre changes to stay authentic in my art. My biggest risks are yet to come probably, but don’t be afraid to go out on a limb, try new things, put yourself in uncomfortable positions, it pushes you to become a better person and lands you in places you may have never dreamed of all because of one risk you take.
