Today, we’d like to introduce you to Erin Takiue.
Hi Erin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I am 3-time salon owner and the CEO of Sanctuary Salon, located currently in the Melrose area of Nashville. My family and I relocated from Hawaii to Nashville 2 years ago and purchased our 3rd salon soon after. I am a mom of three children ages 14, 12, and 8 and absolutely love being a hands on mom being busy with all their activities and sports. I have been a hairstylist for 21 years and a salon owner for 12 years.
My grandmother and grandfather actually helped fund and were the original supporters of the first salon that I opened on the Big Island of Hawaii. I wouldn’t own Sanctuary without them and their amazing generosity and legacy. I have also learned so much from my mother and father, who are long-time business owners and entrepreneurs. My mother was a salon owner in the 80s, and she later sold her business to help run my father’s business, which was making custom acoustic guitars.
I absolutely love being a salon owner and supporting stylists in achieving their goals of creating income and building their dream clientele. One of my passions is to cultivate within my business for stylists and clients alike to have a feeling of being seen, heard, and valued within Sanctuary Salon. To value others and have a “Spirit of Aloha” (Aloha means mutual understanding and respect) within business is one of the largest impacts I would like to have brought with me from Hawaii to Nashville.
We currently have an 8-station hybrid commission and booth rental salon and have plans to expand in the future. It’s so exciting to dream, plan, and grow a possible four salons within Nashville. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Sanctuary Salon.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When you dream of being a salon owner, it’s focused on the highlights, and it’s never usually a smooth road. It is a constant process of growth and learning.
We have had flooding, backed up shampoo bowls, electrical issues that we inherited with the business we purchased and much more. I really do want to continue to learn gratitude in the midst of chaos and to welcome change as a business owner. It’s constant.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sanctuary Salon?
Sanctuary Salon is a 8 station salon luxury salon. We focus on extensions, balayage, lived-in color, women’s haircuts, and keratin treatments.
We have stylists trained in luxury extensions, haircolor and haircut techniques. We love bringing a “Spirit of Aloha” to Nashville and having clients feel seen, heard, and valued for their Haircare services.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I absolutely love quotes and will tell everyone my newest favorites.
My children are the biggest blessings I have been given on this earth and I am thankful for each of their personalities. I also really care deeply for each stylist who chooses to make Sanctuary their salon home and pour into my businesses my heart and dreams.
