Today, we’d like to introduce you to Kate Stanford.
Hi Kate, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My name is Kate Stanford, and I am a Christian singer/songwriter and content creator. I started singing when I was six years old at my school’s talent show. I remember that at that young age, I felt a higher calling to keep performing, even if I was singing “The Best of Both Worlds” by Hannah Montana at the time. Ha!
As I got older, I began classical training and ended up going to college at the the University of Texas at Austin for Classical Voice. I became so dissatisfied and stifled by all of the rules of classical singing that I decided to go all in with Contemporary Christian music (and switch my major, thankfully). I knew I wanted to pursue a career in Christian music in 2019, when I opened up for Jaci Velasquez in McAllen, Texas.
Feeling the energy of the crowd and the connection of ministering to people after my performance filled my cup more than anything I had experienced before. My favorite part of what I do is connection. I love connecting with my audience and feeling like I am making a genuine difference in people’s lives. It is truly what makes me wake up feeling excited every single day.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
My decision to move to Nashville to go all in with my music career was not an easy one. In may of 2023, I graduated from the University of Texas with a business degree. I had no clue if I wanted to stay in Austin where my support system was, or take a leap of faith and move to Nashville where I did not know anyone. But looking back in hindsight, I can definitely say that the move was the right decision.
The challenge of making a new life for myself has pushed me in so many ways, forcing me to grow in my personal and spiritual life. The Lord has opened up so many doors for me in Nashville. Releasing on April 19th, I am releasing my latest single, “Stand on Your Promises.” I worked on this song with producer Sam Hart, and it is by far my favorite song I will ever have released. You can find my latest song, in addition to my other releases, on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube, etc. I could not be more grateful for the support I have received during this move.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with your work?
I am a Christian singer/songwriter, but most importantly, I am creative at heart. In addition to writing songs, it is also important for me to bring vulnerability and honesty to the forefront of my personal brand.
I aim to provide a safe space for my followers and listeners to come as they are and WHO they are. I have a heart for Women’s ministry. In many of my videos, I cater to young women as I bring up topics such as self worth, mental health, and body image through a Christian lens. I want to build a community of Believers that lift each other up and bring light to this dark world.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I believe that success is not contingent on what other people think of you. I have learned that throughout my life, you will never be able to please everyone.
I am not for everyone, and I am perfectly okay with that. I define success as making your younger self proud. As shown up for yourself, even on hard days. Success looks different for everyone, and it looks different each day.
